About Katie Boon Melbourne Marriage Celebrant
Hello! I’m Katie Boon, an authorised marriage celebrant.

Before anything else, I invite you to take a moment to understand my way of being in wedding ceremonies — the care I bring, the attention I give, and the quiet respect I hold for moments that matter.

I step into weddings gently. I listen for what sits beneath the words, notice the spaces between them, and honour the weight of standing before the people who have shaped you. These are moments that don’t ask for performance, but for presence — though there’s always room for warmth, ease, and the kind of humour that helps everyone breathe.

My role is to offer steadiness and calm, to shape a ceremony that feels grounded and true. One that holds meaning, allows for laughter, and marks your commitment with intention and care — letting the moment unfold naturally, just as it is.
My Story
Why Me? Why Now?
A History that gets me from… here… to… there…

My family. My life. My story.

It was 2014. November.
Two lines on a stick.
A plane ticket booked.
A move already in motion.

And then the question arrived — not gently, but insistently:
What comes next, after children?
After more than ten years working as a freelance storyteller, mostly in the UK, I knew it was time to come home. Australia was calling, and so was the life growing inside me.
Melbourne welcomed me back with familiarity and change. My desire to start a family was real, my body changing daily. I made a conscious decision to step sideways rather than forwards — to pause my career rather than force it into a shape that no longer fit. Australia doesn’t offer the same population density to sustain full-time storytelling, and the arts landscape is a very different world from London.
The next four (and a bit) years were spent raising my children, reading widely, researching deeply, and paying attention. I was searching for a creative path that worked with people, honoured individual stories, and marked life as it unfolded. Something human. Something meaningful. Something that would stretch my thinking while allowing my skills to transfer naturally.
And slowly, it came into focus.

Quietly, I feel I landed exactly where I was meant to.
